1. Who you are dealing with

PubFile is made by Rajat, an individual developer ("we", "us"). There is no company behind it. Contact: mrr.rajat.contact@gmail.com. The website is https://pubfile-app.github.io.

2. Where PubFile comes from

PubFile is distributed only through the Mac App Store, and PubFile Pro is sold only as an in-app purchase there. Apple is the seller. Your use of the app is governed by Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement; price, tax, receipts and refunds are handled by Apple under your Apple Account. Where these terms and Apple's differ, Apple's govern. There is no direct-download version and no licence key; if you find one offered, it is not from us.

3. What you buy

• Free. Opening and previewing any .pub file, Quick Look in Finder, the report, and three full-quality conversions to IDML or PDF. Free for anyone, on any Mac.
• PubFile Pro. A one-time in-app purchase of $29.99 USD (Apple sets local prices and tax). It removes the conversion limit and adds Convert All Open Documents. It is not a subscription; there are no recurring charges. It is tied to the Apple Account that bought it and can be restored on any Mac signed in with that account (PubFile ▸ Restore Purchases).
• Try before you buy. The three free conversions have every feature switched on. Please test your hardest file before paying.
• Pricing changes. We may change the price for future buyers. A change never affects a purchase you already made.

4. Your documents

Everything PubFile does to your files happens on your Mac. The .pub files you open are read, never modified; exports are written as new files where you choose. The files and the converted output belong to you and we claim no rights in them. You are responsible for having the right to convert the documents you process.

5. Restrictions

Beyond what Apple's EULA says, you may not remove or alter any copyright, trademark or licence notice in the app, or circumvent the purchase check. The open-source components in section 7 may be used under their own licences.

6. No warranty; limitation of liability

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. Conversion between file formats is inherently lossy; the report exists so that you can check the output, and you should check it before relying on a converted document. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, OR LOSS OF DATA OR PROFITS, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SOFTWARE, AND OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID. Nothing in this section excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law (for example for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or consumers' non-excludable statutory rights).

7. Open-source components

PubFile includes third-party software, each under its own licence, which continues to govern that component. The notices are in PubFile ▸ About PubFile. The main components are:

• libmspub: Mozilla Public License 2.0 (MPL-2.0). Source: git.libreoffice.org/libmspub.
• librevenge: MPL-2.0 / LGPL 2.1+ dual licence; we use it under MPL-2.0. Source: sourceforge.net/p/libwpd/librevenge.

The MPL-2.0 requires that we make the source of those components, including our modifications, available. It is available on request: email mrr.rajat.contact@gmail.com and we will send the source for the version you have. Where the MPL and these terms conflict for those components, the MPL wins.

8. Trademarks

"PubFile" and the PubFile icon are our marks. Microsoft Publisher is a trademark of Microsoft Corporation; Adobe InDesign is a trademark of Adobe Inc.; Affinity Publisher is a trademark of Canva/Serif. PubFile is not affiliated with or endorsed by Microsoft, Adobe or Canva. Use of these names describes file compatibility only.

9. Governing law

To the extent Apple's EULA does not already settle it, these terms are governed by the laws of India, and disputes will be heard in the courts at Jind, Haryana, India, except that consumers keep the protection of the mandatory laws and courts of the country where they live.

10. Changes to these terms

If these terms change we will update the version and date at the top of this page. Changes do not take away rights under a purchase you have already made.
